Partnering with Community Organizations to Build Relationships

Community outreach by police is growing in importance. Not only does it help to increase understanding between residents and police officers, but it also helps develop trust. When police officers better relate to the community they serve, they can positively affect the community.

EVR was founded on the idea that the world needs more responsible, confident, and savvy gun owners. We help shooters of every experience level improve their confidence, grow their skills, and learn to shoot through our training classes and programs. Since we also believe strongly in supporting the communities we have the privilege to serve, we have introduced a new class offering: Citizen’s Academy.

What is a Citizen’s Academy Program?

Many communities that we serve have robust Citizen’s Academy programs designed to foster communication between citizens and law enforcement professionals through hands-on education. The academy helps citizens understand how local police officers serve the community and how they learn to respond to different situations.

Typical topics covered in local Citizen’s Academy programs can include:
  • SWAT
  • K9 demonstrations
  • Crime scene investigation
  • Drunk driving simulation
  • Regional dispatch center
  • And more

The goal is to help citizens make more informed judgments about local law enforcement. By dispelling suspicions and misconceptions, they can become community advocates for law enforcement professionals and help boost morale throughout their city.

Citizen’s Academy at EVR

The purpose of this training program at EVR is to strengthen relationships locally within community organizations and their citizens. By delivering situational training exercises for civilians, students can learn hands-on what it’s like to be a police officer or deputy. Through lifelike scenarios, participants can learn how deputies perform their duties and respond to different situations.

The goal is not to teach individuals how to use a gun but instead, teach them about the critical and split-second decision-making officers must make regularly.

Why Choose EVR

While we understand that many civilians understand and respect the work of local law enforcement, we also know that there is so much more than meets the eye. Creating a Citizen’s Academy training class can help citizens get real-world experience that directly simulates day-to-day life for police officers and first responders. It is our goal to grow an understanding and respect towards local law enforcement.

We feel strongly it is our responsibility to educate the community on safe gun handling and to support the efforts of our local police officers. We encourage you to learn more about our educational training and firearms classes to find the right fit. The better we know our communities, the better we can continue to serve them.
